In June 2026, 2D House made history as the first rental house in North America to receive the ZEISS Aatma lenses. The lenses were quickly rented out, indicating their anticipated popularity.
This achievement marks a pivotal moment for 2D House, enhancing its already diverse selection of gear and cementing its reputation as a premier resource for filmmakers and commercial producers in search of cutting-edge cinema technology.
The ZEISS Aatma full-frame prime lenses redefine cinematic optics by combining the timeless essence and emotional depth of classic Zeiss glass with contemporary optical engineering to meet today’s rigorous cinematography demands. This set of nine T1.5 prime lenses (18mm, 25mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm, 65mm, 85mm, 100mm, and 135mm) is known for its soft skin tone rendering, smooth focus transitions, and rich bokeh, maintaining consistency across focal lengths. Additionally, Zeiss eXtended Data (XD) and CinCraft ecosystem integration optimize the lenses for visual effects, camera tracking, and virtual production workflows.
“The Aatma lenses are the first set from a major manufacturer in a long time that have really excited me,” says David Dvir, founder and CEO of 2D House. “They truly belong in their own category.” With his background in still and motion photography, Dvir was particularly impressed by the test footage of exterior foliage. “Shooting scenes like that is challenging due to the difficulty in separating foreground from background. The Aatma’s distinctive bokeh effect beautifully highlights different planes, creating an appealing visual.”
Having received the lenses in early June 2026, 2D House anticipates their widespread adoption in various production types, especially for commercials and streaming narratives where both reliability and unique aesthetics are crucial. “People have mentioned they resemble Super Speeds,” comments Dvir. “But they offer something new and versatile, enhancing the creative potential for our clients. Zeiss really hit the mark.”
