In early June 2026, the first set of ZEISS Aatma lenses arrived at 2D House and were immediately rented out, highlighting their anticipated popularity.
This milestone achievement for 2D House establishes it as the premier rental house in North America to acquire the latest in lens technology. This addition not only broadens the range of equipment available but also solidifies 2D House’s standing as a top-tier destination for filmmakers and commercial producers seeking advanced cinematic tools.
The Aatma full-frame primes blend the nostalgic allure and emotional depth of classic Zeiss lenses with cutting-edge optical advancements, designed to meet the rigorous demands of modern cinematography. The set includes nine T1.5 prime lenses (18mm, 25mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm, 65mm, 85mm, 100mm, and 135mm), offering features like smooth skin tone rendering, artistic focus transitions, and a distinctive soap-bubble bokeh. These lenses also ensure consistency across various focal lengths while being integrated with Zeiss eXtended Data (XD) and the CinCraft ecosystem, enhancing their application in visual effects, camera tracking, and virtual production.
David Dvir, the founder and CEO of 2D House, expresses his excitement, noting, “The Aatma lenses are the first set in many years from a major manufacturer that has truly impressed me. They stand in a category of their own.” With extensive experience in photography, Dvir was particularly captivated by how the lenses handle outdoor scenes. “I understand the complexities of distinguishing between foreground and background in such shots, and the Aatma’s unique bokeh effect beautifully highlights different planes, which is exceptionally appealing.”
Upon receiving the lenses in June, they were quickly rented out, with expectations that they will become a favorite in various production genres, especially commercials and streaming content where both reliability and visual uniqueness are vital. “Clients have remarked that they feel and perform like Super Speeds,” Dvir mentions. Yet, there’s more to these lenses. “They offer something new and adaptable, enhancing the creative potential for our clients,” he adds. “Zeiss has truly excelled with this release.”
