Blackmagic Camera Update 3.4 Enhances Android Filmmaking CapabilitiesThe latest update to the Blackmagic Camera app, version 3.4, introduces a host of new features that increase the versatility of Android smartphones in professional video production environments.

Blackmagic Design continues to enhance its mobile app offerings, and the 3.4 update introduces several user-requested features, further solidifying smartphones as a viable option for various production workflows.

This release, version 3.4, includes enhancements such as 4K HDMI output complete with audio, the ability to control the camera via a WearOS companion app, remote operations through REST API, options for continuous recording pauses, and support for Blackmagic Focus and Zoom demands, alongside proxy clip management and additional features.

With these updates, Android phones equipped with the Blackmagic Camera app can be integrated into more adaptable production workflows, enabling operations in hard-to-reach camera positions or scenarios where remote monitoring and control are essential. The 4K HDMI video output with audio allows the phone to connect seamlessly to external monitors, switchers, or recorders, maintaining a high-quality image stream.

The WearOS camera control feature allows users to conveniently start and stop recordings from their wrist, particularly useful when the phone is mounted on rigs, vehicles, or gimbals that are hard to access. Additionally, the REST API remote control and the new Remote Camera Manager simplify multi-camera setups, enabling centralized control and monitoring of multiple Android devices.
