Version 3.4 introduces 4K HDMI output with audio, camera control via a companion WearOS app, remote control through REST API, continuous recording pause, Blackmagic Focus and Zoom demand features, and proxy clip management, among other improvements.

With these enhancements, Android phones running Blackmagic Camera can now be effectively used in complex production setups, including remote camera positions. The 4K HDMI output with audio facilitates connection to external monitors, switchers, or recorders, maintaining high-quality video output from the smartphone.

The WearOS app integration enables easy recording management from a smartwatch, ideal for setups where the phone is mounted in hard-to-reach places like rigs, vehicles, or gimbals. Additionally, the REST API and the new Remote Camera Manager simplify multicamera setups by allowing centralized control and monitoring of several Android phones.

The update’s continuous recording pause feature means you can pause and resume shooting without creating new clips, which is particularly beneficial for lengthy activities such as interviews, events, or behind-the-scenes filming.
