Reimagined Kodak EC35 35mm Film Camera Debuts with Classic Slide Cover

Reto, renowned for its popular Kodak Charmera and the impressive Snapic A1, has unveiled the Kodak EC35 film camera, a compact device designed for everyday use. This new model focuses on simplicity and charm, ideal for those who want easy photography without the hassle. True to its straightforward design, the EC35 is a basic point-and-shoot film camera. It aims to bring the joy back to photography by eliminating complexities, making it perfect for beginners. Similar to a disposable model, this camera features manual wind and rewind functions, a fixed shutter speed of 1/100 second, and a 25mm lens with a fixed f/10 aperture. It also includes an electronic flash powered by a single AA battery. Weighing just 102 grams, the camera’s dimensions are 119mm by 65mm by 41.5mm.

The minimalist optical viewfinder is positioned just above the lens. While the EC35 doesn’t break new technological ground, Reto emphasizes its aesthetic appeal. It’s available in a vibrant palette of seven colors: midnight black, vanilla white, butter yellow, lavender, powder blue, blush pink, and avocado green. A key feature is its tactile slide cover, which secures the viewfinder and lens, reminiscent of designs from the film and early digital eras. These covers add a nostalgic aspect, akin to the original fidget spinners. “With a tactile slide cover for instant protection and a built-in flash, it’s crafted to be effortlessly carried and ready for memorable moments,” Reto states.

The Kodak EC35 is available for purchase as a standalone product or in a bundle that includes a strap and a 24-frame roll of Kodak Ultramax 400 film, although a battery is not provided. This release marks a significant collaboration with the Kodak brand, as it pairs this iconic camera design with Kodak’s own film product. The camera is now on sale for $35 for just the device or $45 with the film bundle.
