Reviving Nostalgia: Kodak EC35 Film Camera with Iconic Slide Cover

Reto, the creative force behind the viral Kodak Charmera and the much-lauded Snapic A1, has unveiled the EC35, an effortlessly stylish 35mm film camera designed for everyday use. This compact device is crafted to catch the eye while remaining user-friendly, ideal for both newcomers and seasoned photographers seeking simplicity. The EC35 eliminates the intricacies of film photography, fostering a pure sense of joy in every captured moment. It features manual wind and rewind functions, a static 1/100 second shutter speed, and a 25mm lens with a fixed f/10 aperture. To top it off, it includes an electronic flash powered by a single AA battery. The camera’s lightweight, all-plastic design weighs just 102 grams and measures 119mm by 65mm by 41.5mm, with an uncomplicated optical viewfinder positioned above the lens. While the technological aspects of the EC35 may not represent groundbreaking innovation, Reto emphasizes its aesthetic appeal and ergonomic design. Available in a vibrant array of seven colors—midnight black, vanilla white, butter yellow, lavender, powder blue, blush pink, and avocado green—the EC35’s standout feature is its nostalgic slide cover. This tactile component snaps securely over the lens and viewfinder, offering protection when the camera is stowed away. Although slide covers were commonplace during the film and early digital photography eras, they have become a rarity today. “With a tactile slide cover for instant protection and a built-in flash, it’s designed for life on the go, ready to capture every golden moment,” says Reto. The Kodak EC35 can be purchased individually or as a bundle, which includes a strap and a 24-frame Kodak Ultramax 400 roll, though it excludes the battery. This marks Reto’s most significant collaboration with the Kodak brand by aligning its product with a film designed and produced by Eastman Kodak. Available for purchase now, the camera is priced at $35, with the bundle option available for $45.
