The latest Blackmagic Camera 3.4 update for Android phones introduces versatile enhancements to streamline production workflows.
Blackmagic Design continues to broaden the functionality of its app, introducing user-requested features in the latest update that enhance the app’s utility for various production scenarios.
Now available as version 3.4, the update incorporates 4K HDMI output complete with audio, camera controls via a WearOS companion app, remote management through REST API, options for continuous recording without interruption, and support for Blackmagic Focus and Zoom commands, along with proxy clip management and more.
This enhancement allows Android phones using Blackmagic Camera to adapt to varied production environments, whether for capturing from challenging angles or managing recordings remotely. The 4K HDMI video output with audio connects seamlessly to external monitors, switchers, or recorders, ensuring a top-tier image feed from your mobile device.
The WearOS camera control feature simplifies starting and stopping recordings directly from your wrist, which is particularly useful when the phone is mounted on rigs, vehicles, gimbals, or other hard-to-reach locations. Additionally, the REST API and the new Remote Camera Manager facilitate multi-camera setups, enabling centralized management of multiple Android devices.
With the continuous recording pause feature, users can pause and resume recordings without creating new clips, making the management of extended shoots, such as interviews, events, or behind-the-scenes footage, more efficient.
The 3.4 update for Blackmagic Camera on Android also includes support for Blackmagic Focus and Zoom demands, remote functionalities for Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive, a new proxy clip manager, and a PCM audio option. Improvements in LUT handling on certain Android devices and general performance and stability enhancements are also part of this update.
